Tonnara di Scopello, Sicily

The Tonnara di Scopello is the heritage of the ancient tradition of tuna fishing. Located on a natural bay in the protected “Riserva dello Zingaro”, it is rough and authentic exactly as you can see in the pictures. It doesn’t claim to be a luxurious and elegant place, but it preserves the true history and tradition of the ancient Florio family, owner of the tonnara and of the building.
Inside the complex, conceived as an ancient fishing village, there are 14 residential units which are furnished respecting their original history. They are located inside the traditional courtyard, others are placed just outside the “Baglio” ( the
courtyard).
Those who choose the tonnara of Scopello, choose the authenticity of rural Sicily, a corner of paradise with crystal clear waters, where the sunsets and sunrises are the most amazing you could ever wish for. It is for us the true luxury of life “pied dans l'eau”.
We really hope this place could preserve its essential beauty without being transformed into some chic but overseen retreats.
